THE MUSICIANS
MEERA MAHARAJ Flute
Meera Maharaj studied at London’s Royal College of Music with scholarships supported by Sir Elton John and the Countess of Munster Musical Trust. She was on the BBC Philharmonic Professional Experience Scheme and is at present on the prestigious Tunnell Trust and Park Lane Group Artists schemes. Meera was also the 2016 winner of Dutch international flute competition.
JAMES GIRLING Guitar
A pupil of Craig Ogden at the Royal Northern College of Music, James Girling was winner of the Royal Northern College of Music Gold Medal in 2016. He made his Wigmore Hall debut in London in 2017. He has also performed with the Halle orchestra and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra Ensemble. James has arranged several works for performance by the Jazz Duo of Craig Ogden and Jacqui Dankworth.
THE MERAKI DUO
The Meraki Duo started when Meera Maharaj and James Girling wanted to share their passion for chamber music. The Duo performs frequently for the prestigious Live Music Now Scheme and they were finalists in the Royal Overseas League competition. Their debut album was awarded the Sir John Manduell Prize and has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and on Jamie Cullum’s BBC Radio 2 programme ‘Introducing Highlights of the Year.
